The exciting part of today was not work, although I did do an amazing “Get Involved” advert for the Burrough of Brent with Mercy and completed two adverts. The excitement came after work when Chad and I went to a show at the Hoxton Kitchen to see three bands at the Concrete and Glass Festival, an indie line-up for the record books: Frighten Rabbit, Bodies of Water, and O’Death.
Good gravy, a fantastic show. The energy from the bands, from their music, from the crowd, it all blended together to create an aura of divinity. Yet the show was at an intimate venue to keep it all on a human level. It was so intimate in fact that after Frightened Rabbit’s first song, a guy burst in the back door and yelled over the crowd, “is there a Rebecca in here?” The band promptly replied, “no man, she’s not coming. She never was…”
I always have to appreciate a show where the band is humble enough to walk out into the crowd and accept a few “great show’s” from the audience. We told each band that we came from Wisconsin to see them and that we pumped their music hard on 90FM, which is true in the case of every band there. Each were extremely gracious.
On the way home, we found Oscar the Grouch. Upon arriving at the ISH bar, we arrived find that everyone else had already had too much to drink….
